22 Dark Feminine Halloween Costumes

Through the evolution of Social Media and all the different opposing aesthetics that we’re tethered back and forth daily by, Dark Feminine is the one that always stands out. October brings a shadowed somber upon us with the awakening of Halloween, which recalls the perfect time to switch up from the clean girl aesthetic and get creative with your dark side.

Here are 22 Halloween Ideas to not only bring out your dark feminine energy but ideas that will look effortlessly sexy. Because isn’t ‘Halloween the only time of year where you can dress like a total slut and no one can say anything about it?’

  1. Jennifer from ‘Jennifer’s Body’

Nothing screams dark feminine like Megan Fox in Jennifer’s Body. We all know this to be a defining moment of sexuality for many women and you could be doing the same this year on October 31st.

This character embodies the perfect balance of sexy and darkness and it’s an easy look to pull together from items you may already have in your wardrobe. A cute mini skirt and a tight fitting sip up hoodie, underlaid with a lacy bra or vest top. A super easy and affordable outfit that won’t be sat in your closet for the rest of the year.

2. Martha from ‘Fight Club’

Sarcastic and Pessimistic Martha, is one of the best supporting characters in film history. She tells us so much about herself without speaking a word of it. Now Martha’s look would only work with an acrimonious attitude and an irrational personality. If you have both of those things you’re already half way there.

This look again, is a simple one that can use items of clothing from your wardrobe that are already shoved to the back. A shielded black hat, Dark lensed sunglasses, red lipstick and a cigarette, well I think that’s Martha.

To descend deeper into Martha’s aesthetic, a sticker could be pressed on your clothing saying ‘Hello I’m, Martha.’ One because this was used in the film but two it would demonstrate who you are to others around you who may not have seen the film.

3. Witch

Dark femininity is centred a lot around being a ‘Witch’ and what this means to those who believe they are so. In today’s society many women believe in this and those who are tapped into their dark feminine energy use a lot of crystals, candles, affirmations and colours to gain their wants and desires.

Now when we think of a witch on Halloween we think one narrow minded aesthetic. Dressing as a Witch on Halloween is the perfect way for those tapped into their witch energy to bring a new meaning of what dressing as a witch for halloween really is. A fresh perspective, fleshed out with the dark feminine aesthetic.

4. Cowgirl

This year Cowgirls have been all the rage, ‘Save a horse, ride a cowboy’.

This halloween there will be many cowgirls. Most of us have cowboy boots and leather jackets at this point and why wouldn't we put them to good use of a cold October night. This look will be easy to stay warm and your feet wont hurt dancing the night away either.

5. Black Swan

In recent years of halloween we have seen a lot of Black and White Swans, showing the light and dark sides of the character ‘Nina Sayers’ in the film ‘Black Swan’.

The black swan costume is a must try costume for halloween at some point. The ‘black swan’ is an amazing interpretation of the dark side of ourselves and a costume that can be done exquisitely with the right patience and determination.

This look can be achieved with a black corset, a black tutu and black ballet flats. The makeup is a huge part to finessing this look to its highest remarks. The drawn out, black winged liner accompanied by a pale complexion are the necessities to entail the true image of Natalie Portman’s character. However, any interpretation of this look will be loved due the stunning nature of what the black swan holds.

6. Dead Bride

A Dead bride Halloween costume may just be the perfect hint to your partner this year, to put a ring on it.

This look lets us live out that little white dress moment and can be as dressed up or dressed down to your liking.

7. Vampire:

Now here me out. This one is a very classic outfit for Halloween especially for us girls, but it’s a classic for a reason. An all black outfit with a smokey eye and some fake blood always looks great.

8. ‘Mia Wallace’ from Pulp Fiction

Mia is a great character to go as for Halloween. One she’s and icon but also she is a character that can be done really easily with items in your closet that you already own. Black jeans/hot pants with a white shirt. If you already have a black haired bob then this look will be really easy to do but if not a wig is easy to find online too.

9. Cat Women

This look is for sure more on the sexier side. Cat women has always been a great look for Halloween. All black and tight fitting with some cute ears. Not to mention a large winged linger could be fun to add to the look also.

My favourite Cat women look is Zoe Kravitz’s Cat Women in the 2022 Batman Film. The look is stunning for anyone wanting to show off their figure.

10. Medusa

The mythical legend that is Medusa is the perfect way to grab attention on the dance floor.

There are two ways to do Medusa. She can be delicate and suductive or you can make this look very dark and demonic. Medusa hasn't been done as much as it should be in recent years. Maybe this year is your year to do Medusa right.

11. Whimsical Fairy

The dark feminine aesthetic has a strong connection to nature. A women of the woods. This could be a dainty take on a Halloween outfit, styling small, lace dresses with fairy wings and ballet flats.

This also is a look that can be easily down with a bodysuit and or wearing a slip could work nicely too.

12. Ghost

On a similar wavelength as the fairy look, this look could be perfect with a nightgown/slip dress. This look can be taken on a path that gives the impression of a distant memory or ‘the women in the window’ as opposed to a ghost in a horror film.

Some shimmer along the clavical paired with a satin or silk night dress and i think this could be one of the easiest halloween looks out there. Not too ideal for colder climates but perfect for a dark feminine ghost look.

13. Mary on a cross

The song ‘Mary on a cross’ became more popular in recent years due to its use on platforms such as Tiktok. This could be the stunning look that you’ve been trying to find. Simple but effective makeup paired with a red or white dress and a veil and you’ve got a beautiful look that is sure to stand out.

14. Rockstar / Rockstar Girlfriend

The ‘Rockstar Girlfriend’ Aesthetic has been also been a popular aesthetic recently. We now see this aesthetic everywhere and it’s dark feminine charm that is gives. Radiating Rockstar, this look can be elevated to make more of an impact. Darker makeup and more extreme components to the costume could make this a great look for Halloween.

This is a great look to be done again from items in your house. This look could also very much be turned into a rockstar look, representing Joan Jett is never a back idea.

15. Carrie

Carrie is one of the most incredible characters to be at Halloween. Everyone knows who Carrie is and if you do this look at Halloween then everyone will know who you are.

This look can be done ‘tasteful’ if you will. If done right I think this look could be somewhat beautiful, but fake blood will do the job.

16. Beetle Juice’s ‘Lydia’

Due to the new Beetlejuice film coming out this 2024 I believe this could be the look of Halloween this year. Whether you want to be “Beetlejuice’ or Lydia either look will be great this year.

This could be a great couples outfit but also Lydia’s outfit is an amazing dark feminine look that will definitely be a crowd pleaser. A bright red dress or tutu with a red corset is the way forward with this one.

17. Queen of Hearts

The Queen of hearts is a brilliant costume that can be played around with to adapt the role of this icon to your own aesthetic. Whether yo like to wear mini skirts or long baggy jeans, The Queen of hearts can be styled numerous ways. This is also helpful dependent on the outcome of weather also.

A DIY crown/ outfit is easy to make with a pack of playing cards to spare, basing this look around the makeup could also be a little hack that will make this look more effortless.

18. Donny Darko / Frank

The rabbit ‘Frank’ in the film Donny Darko is a character that isn’t worn too often, or at least a costume I’ve never seen out an about on the 31st. Seeing a ‘Frank’ would for sure meliorate halloween for me this year.

This character one isn’t seen regularly enough but two it especially it isn’t seen enough with women. The photo above shows a great example of how this character can be done tastefully with the perfect mix of femininity and darkness.

19. Devil

The devil is one of the most common looks on halloween, similar to the vampire. However, there are ways in which we can step up this look to be the dark feminine aesthetic that we so desire. The devil can be as creative as we like whether the devil we want is more demonic and black resembling more to be ‘Satan’ or whether this look is an all Red Devil.

20. Poison Ivy

If you have red hair, then this is the look for you. A stunning green dress paired with a twisted crown of leaves and you will steal the show.

21. Little Red Riding-hood

Red riding hood is a favourite, one if which I haven’t seen as often in recent years. Lets bring her back. This is an easy look to dress up as for Halloween. A little red dress and a basket style bag would do wonders.

22. Forest Elf

This is one of the easiest looks when going for a dark feminine aesthetic. Being a forest Elf/nymph is a stunning way to look amazing on the 31st with little to no effort. This is a look that works well with everyone who is looking to use their wardrobe to create an easy look for their night out.

As Halloween approaches, it’s the perfect time to embrace your dark feminine energy and let your costume reflect your power, mystery, and allure.
